Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong requested China to open markets for durian, sweet potatoes, grapefruit, and passion fruit, and to speed up the licensing of Vietnamese dairy factories. He also asked China to recognize more Vietnamese seafood processing enterprises and products for export. In response, the Director General of the General Department of Customs of China, Nghe Nhac Phong, stated that China is examining the dossiers and is expected to allow some enterprises to export these products. The two countries also agreed to set up a hotline to coordinate and deal with trade problems, strengthen the fight against smuggling and quarantine of animals, and improve quarantine capacity.
