Sluggish international market curbs corn sales in MT, Imea points out

According to data released by Imea, the marketing of the 2024/25 corn crop in Mato Grosso advanced by 2.26 percentage points in November, reaching 83.37% of the estimated production. The movement reflects the strategy of producers in releasing old stocks in the face of the approaching soybean harvest. Despite the advance, the sales pace is still 6.38 points below the same period of the previous crop. The lower competitiveness of corn in the international market has pressured external demand, reducing the appetite of international buyers and limiting the fluidity of negotiations in the state. The bulletin also points to a rise in prices. In November, the average value of marketed corn reached R$ 48.09 per sack, an increase of 1.97% compared to October. This scenario may be linked to the momentary contraction in supply and the search for stock replenishment by the national industry.
