Small Peruvian producers from Áncash, Apurímac, Ayacucho, Cusco, and Huancavelica can now export Hass avocados to Chile, following an agreement extended by Chile's Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG). This agreement, finalized with the support of Peru's National Agricultural Health Service (Senasa), allows these producers to tap into Chile's market of 18 million consumers. The export process will be rigorously monitored to ensure compliance with dry matter standards. In 2019, Peru's avocado exports exceeded 312,000 tons, generating over US$748 million in revenue, with the Netherlands, Chile, the United States, and Spain being the primary markets.
