Soil moisture favors melanocytes in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul

Watermelon cultivation continues in Rio Grande do Sul, with progress in various regions, according to the Conjunctural Report released by Emater/RS-Ascar on Thursday (30). According to the bulletin, the combination of adequate soil moisture and rising temperatures has favored the development of the crops, especially in areas where planting has already begun. In the administrative region of Bagé, in Quaraí, planting has reached 35 of the 55 hectares planned for the season. Emater reported that "the low temperatures previously recorded reduced the speed of plant development, but the recent days, with higher temperatures, have improved the visual aspect of the crops." Farmers have been applying foliar fertilizers and preventive fungicides to ensure the smooth progress of the crop. In São Gabriel, the estimate is 75 hectares cultivated, with 41 already established.
