Solar energy grows by 38% in São Paulo

According to information released by the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply of São Paulo, the state leads the nation in its own generation of solar energy and continues to expand its potential for sustainable production. Data from the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (Absolar) indicate that the installed capacity in São Paulo is 5.8 gigawatts (GW). Compared to the last 12 months, the growth was 1.6 GW, representing an advance of 38%. The renewable source has been gaining ground as a viable alternative for electricity generation, especially in rural areas. The use of photovoltaic panels allows for the supply of various operational demands on properties, such as pumping water for domestic use, irrigation, electrification of fences, and lighting, among other applications related to agricultural and livestock production.
