Rural Bank and ANZ predict a significant increase in the Australian wheat and barley crop for the 2024/25 marketing season, with wheat production expected to rise by 19% to 31.2 million tonnes and barley by 5% to 11.1 million tonnes. However, finding markets for the large harvest could be challenging, especially for wheat as global prices are currently not competitive. Domestic demand for feed grain is expected to remain strong, particularly in regions with dry conditions, and pulse production is also forecast to increase by 22%.
