Grain production in Maranhão is expected to face a season marked by strong challenges. In an interview with Soja Brasil, the president of Aprosoja Maranhão, José Carlos Oliveira, stated that the state still has "a long way to go," especially due to the long distances and lack of logistical infrastructure. According to Oliveira, the expectation is that Maranhão will plant 1.6 million hectares of soybeans, combining both dryland and pivot-irrigated areas.
