Since the 1960s, Song Ma District in Vietnam has developed longan trees, finding suitable climatic and soil conditions, and leading to a high economic value. In 2010, scientific research led to the grafting and improvement of longan varieties, with positive results. The district has focused on fruit tree development and propagandizing, with a policy for fruit tree development on sloping land. This has led to the branding and market recognition of "Song Ma Longan," with an annual output of around 60,000 tons in 2022. The district has also started exporting agricultural products, including longan, to the European Union and the United Kingdom, with plans to further develop longan production, improve quality and output, and expand export markets.
