South American soybean harvest for 2023/24 is estimated at 215 million tons by DATAGRO grains

DATAGRO Grãos released its third survey for the 2023/24 soybean harvest in South America, with an estimate of 215.314 million tons. This number is lower than the previous forecast of 222.343 million tons, but still represents an increase of 10% compared to the volume harvested in the previous harvest, which was 196.199 million tons (revised data). The new estimate also surpasses the record for the 2020/21 season, of 198.415 million tons. The projected planted area for the 2023/24 harvest is 68.825 million hectares, a slight increase compared to the previous estimate of 68.669 million hectares. If confirmed, this will represent a growth of 6% in relation to the record of 64.897 million hectares harvested in the 2022/23 harvest. Average productivity, however, was revised downwards, from 3,238 kg/ha to 3,128 kg/ha.
