South Chungcheong Province in South Korea has seen a significant increase in seafood exports in the first half of 2021, with a total of $85.09 million, marking a 56.1% increase from the same period last year and setting an all-time high. This growth surpasses the national export growth rate of 14.1%. The province has experienced a steady rise in seafood exports for 16 consecutive months, with other processed seaweed products like seasoned laver contributing significantly to this growth. The main importers of these products include China, the US, Taiwan, Russia, and Australia. This growth is attributed to factors such as the expansion of laver exports, the recovery of China's domestic demand, the diversification of exporting countries, the spread of awareness of seaweed as a superfood, and the promotion and support policies of the province.
