Norway's mackerel exports have experienced a decline due to reduced catches and quotas, in line with the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea's recommendations. Despite this, import volumes of salmon have remained stable. Norway has signed an agreement with the UK and the Faroe Islands for the sustainable management of the total allowable catch of Atlantic mackerel until 2026. The Norwegian Seafood Council plans to launch marketing strategies in the second half of the year to boost the promotion and consumption of Norwegian seafood in Korea.
