South Korean flour mills have strategically purchased around 172,300 metric tons of wheat from the United States, Canada, and Australia to secure the country's food supply. This diverse sourcing is aimed at mitigating risks such as geopolitical tensions and climate change that can disrupt the global supply chain. The wheat, to be shipped in May and June, was bought on FOB (free on board) terms. This move is part of a larger trend of countries bolstering their domestic food reserves in response to the unpredictability of global events.
