The Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Administration is encouraging food companies to use QR codes on their products to provide food safety information. Currently, 101 products from 15 companies are using this practice. The ministry plans to extend this to imported foods in 2025 and all foods in South Korea by 2026. The QR code will provide nutritional information, cooking methods, and other details, making it easier for consumers to understand the food they are consuming. The ministry believes this will improve consumer safety, enhance product selection, and reduce the environmental impact by reducing the need to change packaging materials.
