Sowing areas for wheat in Ukraine in 2026 may decrease by approximately 5% compared to 2025 and will be slightly less than 5 million hectares. This is reported by "APK-Inform". According to their estimates, the sowing area for barley may decrease to 1.1 million hectares, which is 21% less than last year. At the same time, the areas under corn, on the contrary, may grow to 4.7 million hectares — approximately 3% on an annual basis. In general, analysts predict that the total sowing area for grain crops in Ukraine in 2026 will be about 11.5 million hectares, which is 4% less than in 2025. Analysts explain such expectations by adverse weather conditions during the sowing of winter crops for the 2026 harvest, as well as active demand for corn in the current season, which stimulates the expansion of its sowing. Analysts also cite difficult weather conditions at the end of January — early February as an additional risk, which could have led to damage to winter wheat and barley crops. ...
