Spain analyzes the impact of Chinese tariffs on pork

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) and the Spanish pork sector analyzed the impact of the tariffs imposed by China on European pork, in effect since September 10. The Secretary-General of Agricultural Resources and Food Safety, Ana Rodríguez, chaired the meeting, which reviewed economic data and the potential effects of this measure on Spanish exporting companies. The tariffs, considered unfair competition, range between 15.6% and 20% for Spain and reach 62.4% in some cases within the EU. The ministry conveyed a message of tranquility and assured that the government will support the affected sector. Rodríguez emphasized the collaboration between the administration and the producers, confident that the measures will be suspended soon.
