The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has announced the closure of the anchovy fishery in the Cantabrian Sea for the inshore brotherhoods due to reaching the allowed quota. The season, which began in March, saw varying prices and a significant improvement in the size of the anchovies towards the end, leading to a positive end to the campaign. The remaining 10% of the quota could be caught in the second half of the year. The fishery has been conducted with limitations to extend the campaign due to abundant catches, including daily quotas per boat and reducing weekly fishing days.
