Russia is capitalizing on the strained relations between China and the EU by increasing its pork exports to China, a market worth billions of dollars annually. This comes as the EU's share of the Chinese pork market is under threat due to tariff disputes and an anti-dumping investigation by China. In contrast, Spain, a significant supplier, saw its position as the top exporter to China in 2020 decrease to second place in 2023. Russia has already regained a foothold in the Chinese market, having been excluded for nearly 15 years due to health restrictions, and aims to increase its market share, with expectations to double its pork exports to China within the next year if more suppliers are certified by China.
