Spain increases its exports of cured ham by more than 13%

Exports of Spanish cured hams and shoulders increased by 13.70% in 2021 compared to the previous year, according to data from the Spanish Serrano Ham Consortium (CJSE), with a total of 53,507.16 tons compared to 47,061.89 tons exported in 2020. Likewise, exports were carried out for a total value of 528,305,716.80 euros, which has meant an increase of 14.62% compared to the previous year. “2021 has been a year of definitive recovery , and the revival of consumption in the markets has led to exports of cured ham surpassing, after the stagnation caused by the pandemic, pre-Covid levels both in terms of volume and value”, explains Carlos del Hoyo, Marketing Director and Promotion of the Spanish Serrano Ham Consortium. In this way, the average price has increased by 0.81% during this period, standing at 9.87 euros.
