Spain: Proposal for sustainable and harmonized control of wild boar

The African Swine Fever Prevention Task Force (GO PREVPA) has published a new document containing a sustainable proposal for monitoring wild boar. A large part of the Spanish territory has a capacity to harbor wild boar populations that have not yet reached their maximum limit, and the populations are, for the most part, close to their maximum productivity rates, which makes their control very difficult. However, Spain lacks integration in the adequate monitoring of wild populations (integrated monitoring). Spain has one of the best hunting and health statistics collection systems for wild boar in the European context. However, it is advisable that some Autonomous Communities collect data at the hunting ground level with greater spatial and temporal resolution.
