Spain requests to store more than 7,700 tons of pork meat

On March 23, the Commission approved Execution Regulation 2022/470 granting aid to said private storage of pork in the face of the difficult market situation due to the slowdown in exports to China, the spread of African swine fever in the EU and the restrictions due to covid-19. This is the third largest figure after that of the Netherlands (12,512 tons) and Denmark (9,935 tons), according to the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA). Germany ranks fourth in requests, with 7,380 tons, followed by Poland (5,200) and France (1,246). Of the European requests -47,541 tons in total-, 29,300 correspond to boneless hams; 6,908 to boneless bacon, 3,067 to hams, 3,353 to boneless centers; 2,122 to bacon; 1,540 to bacon; 580 to cutlets; 400 half carcasses; 172 to pallets and 100 tons to front parts.
