The 2024/2025 Spanish grapefruit campaign, which runs from September 1 to May 31, has closed with record-breaking positive data in both production and export, according to data released by the Interprofessional Association of Lemon and Grapefruit (Ailimpo). Total production for this campaign has been 102,000 tons, which means Spain has surpassed the 100,000-ton barrier for the first time. Total exports were slightly over 72,000 tons, setting a new record. Spanish grapefruit is already consumed in more than 40 countries, although 80% is destined for Germany, France, the Netherlands, Poland, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Of the rest of the production, around 6,000 tons are consumed in the Spanish market and nearly 22,000 tons are directed to the processing industry for the production of juice and essential oil.
