Spanish avocado producers are complaining about competition from Morocco, as the country has seen significant growth in avocado production in recent years. Morocco's avocado crop area has increased from 1,900 hectares in 2010 to over 9,000 hectares in 2021, which is half of Spain's avocado-growing area. Despite this, Moroccan fields are more productive than Spanish fields, with Morocco producing 116.77 tons compared to Spain's 82.37 tons due to drought in Spain's main avocado-growing region.
