In 2025, the average price of tea in Sri Lanka has decreased to 1,177.35 rupees (4.00 US dollars) from 1,293.78 rupees (4.11 US dollars) in 2024. This decline is observed across all altitude categories, with highland tea showing negative growth in rupees but positive growth in US dollars, while mid-land and lowland tea categories experienced negative growth in both currencies. Despite the price drop, Sri Lanka's tea exports increased by 9.6% in 2024, reaching a value of US$1.43 billion.
