The 2022/2023 table grape campaign in the southern hemisphere has started, with a 33.5% lower volume compared to the previous campaign due to decreased supply from Peru and Brazil. The Peruvian supply is predominantly available in Latin American countries, Asia, and the Far East, while Brazil's grapes are predominantly in the European Union and the UK. The US market expects a 1.5% higher local harvest, leading to a decrease in domestic market dispatch and an increase in inventory. Spot prices in the US and Europe are higher than the previous season due to limited supply and increased consumer pressure, respectively. According to the Association of Table Grape Producers of Peru (Provid), the first South American grapes are arriving, and the European market presents varied spot prices. Accumulated exports of Peruvian grapes from weeks 31 to 41 were 22.54% lower than the previous harvest.
