Georgia is set to continue its state program to boost hazelnut production in 2024, with a budget allocation of 20 million lari for subsidies on agrochemicals and pesticides. The program's effectiveness will be measured by yield and export volumes. Despite challenges in hazelnut exports, the Finance Minister noted improvements in the 2023 program and the positive impact on entrepreneurs. The Rural Development Agency distributed 20.9 million lari to farmers owning up to 3 hectares of hazelnut plantations in 2023. However, nut exports decreased by 13% in the first nine months of 2023 compared to the previous year, exporting 11.1 thousand tons worth $52.3 million.
