In 2024, the federal center will double state support for the agro-industrial complex of Kalmykia for the development of beef cattle breeding to 350 million rubles, sheep and goat breeding - to 120 million rubles, in order to increase livestock and ensure food security for Russia. This decision was made following a working meeting with Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Andrei Razin, and aims to support livestock farmers and increase the number of commercial breeding stock. Kalmykia is known for its high-quality meat, and the republic is seeking to improve the situation in sheep farming and increase meat exports through natural grazing of animals in the steppe, providing exceptional taste and aroma to the meat.
