Poultry and poultry meat quantities in Egypt increased by 11% during 2024, reaching 2.4 million tons (live weight) compared to 2.2 million tons in 2023, according to a statement issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics today.
The number of live cattle (cows, buffalo, sheep, goats, and camels) rose to 8.1 million heads during 2024, compared to 7.6 million heads the previous year, an increase of 6.7%. The total number of slaughtered animals also increased to 4.4 million heads from 4.2 million heads, with a growth rate of 3.6%, according to the statistics.
In contrast, beef production from carcasses increased to 754 thousand tons from 650 thousand tons, a 16% increase, while domestic production of raw milk increased to 6.6 million tons from 5.7 million tons, a growth of 15.7% over the same period.
Egg production also increased by 1.4% to 16.6 billion eggs during 2024, compared to 16.4 billion eggs the previous year, while honey production decreased by 3.6% to 3.7 thousand tons from 3.8 thousand tons in 2023.
