Heavy rainfall from a tropical depression and seasonal winds in Taiwan have caused over NT$178 million (US$6.4 million) in losses for the agricultural sector, with 90% of the damages in central and southern Taiwan, particularly in Yunlin County. The losses are expected to rise as the precipitation is forecast to continue, with papaya and peanut farmers suffering the most significant losses so far.
