As stated by Mirosław Maliszewski on air, this year's strawberry season may bring noticeable price increases. Fruit growers are dealing with the effects of severe frosts, which in recent days have affected many regions of the country. The largest drops in temperature were recorded on the night of April 26th to April 27th, particularly in Mazovia – including in Kozienice and Raciąż. At ground level, temperatures dropped as low as -8°C in some places, which for many crops means serious damage or total destruction of the plants. As Mirosław Maliszewski, president of the Fruit Growers' Association of Poland, emphasized, the situation for many farms was dramatic. Fruit growers have no doubts – this year's fruit prices, including strawberries, will be higher than in a standard season. However, the scale of the increases depends on the actual losses, which are still being estimated. Preliminary forecasts indicate that they may amount to 10 to even 50 percent, and in some farms even more. ...
