Singapore, a small, trade-dependent nation, is focusing on food security through the combined efforts of the industry, consumers, and government. The industry is encouraged to diversify import sources and have Business Continuity Plans, while consumers are urged to be adaptable in their food choices. The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is playing a key role in this, accrediting Indonesia as a new source for live chicken imports, alongside existing sources like Australia, Thailand, USA, and Brazil. The SFA is also working to transform the local agri-food industry into a productive, climate-resilient, and resource-efficient sector, with the Alliance for Action (AfA) on Demand Offtake and Consumer Education developing an offtake aggregation framework to consolidate local produce demand and supply.
