Chilean fruit exports experienced a slight decline of 1% in volume but a significant increase of 4% in value in the first quarter of 2024, reaching a total of 1.123 million tonnes valued at US$3.721 billion. Despite the volume decrease, the value of fresh fruit exports rose by 4%, with China being the primary market. Cherries emerged as the top product, seeing a 13% increase in shipments to China, contributing to 30.5% of the total fruit value. On the other hand, grape exports experienced a 15% drop in volume, with the US as the primary market. Fresh blueberries saw a 4% increase in volume and a 27% increase in value, with the US, China, and Mexico as the leading markets. Overall, China remained the dominant market for fresh Chilean fruit, accounting for 42.5% of shipments, marking an 8.2% increase from the previous year.
