The article reports on the performance of the sugar production season in Ukraine, highlighting a total of 33 enterprises' involvement and the completion of seven factories due to insufficient raw materials. Despite the challenges, Ukraine produced over 970 thousand tons of sugar from about 206 thousand hectares of sugar beets, showing a significant improvement in sugar content and yield compared to the previous year. The country is on track to process approximately 10.6 million tons of sugar beets, with an expected production of 1.44 million tons of sugar, and has fully supplied its domestic market while also achieving record exports in 2021. The government of Ukraine is taking steps to balance consumer needs with industrial development by considering subsidies for sugar beet cultivation to make the crop more appealing and maintain the sown area.
