Sugar prices in Brazil started 2023 low, with a slight decrease of 0.13% to R$ 136.51 per 50-kilogram bag on January 2, according to the Cepea/Esalq Indicator. Despite this, Brazil's sugar exports hit a record of 2.223 million tons in the 22 working days of December, generating revenues of US$ 949.63 million.
On the other hand, hydrated ethanol prices saw an increase of 3.18% in December, reaching BRL 2,961.50 a m³ on January 2. Anhydrous and hydrated ethanol also experienced price hikes in the last week of 2022, with hydrous ethanol increasing by 2.69% and anhydrous ethanol by 1.58%.
