A study by the Energy Research Company (EPE) and the Ministry of Mines and Energy in Brazil forecasts a 28.8% increase in sugarcane crushing to 751 million tons by 2032, with a 12% rise in planted area. The majority of the processed sugarcane will be used for ethanol production, which is expected to reach 36.1 billion liters. There will also be an increase in biodiesel consumption, reaching 12.1 billion liters. The report highlights the efficiency of ethanol production, reduction in costs, and the need to increase ethanol production capacity as key factors driving these investments.
