The sugar mills in Brazil's Center-South region processed 45.97 million tons of sugarcane in the first half of September of the 2025/26 season (April 2025 to March 2026), compared to 42.99 million tons in the same period of the previous season, an increase of 6.94%. The information is from the biweekly survey of the Sugarcane Industry Union (Unica), released this Thursday (2). In the first half of September, 259 producing units were operating in the Center-South region, of which 238 units processed sugarcane, 10 companies produced ethanol from corn, and 11 were flex mills. In the same period of the 2024/2025 season, 261 producing units were operating, of which 241 units processed sugarcane, 9 companies produced ethanol from corn, and 11 were flex mills. Sugar production in the first 15 days of September reached 3.622 million tons, which corresponds to an increase of 15.72% compared to the same period in 2024.
