Vietnam: Summer-Autumn rice prices increase, traders go to the fields to deposit

Up to this point, farmers in Hau Giang province have harvested more than 12,000 hectares out of a total of more than 75,200 hectares of summer-autumn rice seeded. Currently, traders go to the fields to pay deposits to buy fresh rice from farmers for some key varieties that are being harvested such as OM 18, Dai Thom 8 and OM 5451... with an amount from 6,600-6,800 VND/kg, up from 300 -400 VND/kg compared to about a week ago, in which, the rice variety OM 18 is the strongest increase, when from 6,300 VND/kg, it has increased to 6,700 VND/kg. Although the price of rice is increasing slightly, the rice yield of people in the province is low compared to the previous summer-autumn crop. According to the people's feedback, due to recent heavy rains in the province, the rice fell, affecting the quality and productivity.
