Farmers in Hau Giang province have harvested over 12,000 hectares of summer-autumn rice, out of a total of 75,200 hectares. Traders are now paying higher deposits to buy fresh rice from farmers for certain varieties that are being harvested, resulting in an increase in the price of rice. However, the rice yield in the province is lower compared to the previous summer-autumn crop due to heavy rains and increased pests, which has affected the quality and productivity of the crops. Despite this, farmers expect to make a profit of about 20 million VND/ha in this crop.
