Over the next two decades, Ukraine is expected to experience a significant increase in summer length, extending by almost a month compared to the start of the century, says Vira Balabukh, a geographical sciences candidate. This is due to the ongoing rise in air temperature, which is also causing winters to become shorter and less severe. Notably, Ukraine's average temperature has increased at a rate 2.5 times faster than the global average over the past 60 years, resulting in more hot days and tropical nights, thereby increasing the heat load on the population.
