(Sunchang=Yonhap News) Reporter Choi Young-soo = The Sunchang County in Jeollabuk-do announced on the 10th that it has distributed a total of 4 billion won in agricultural public interest allowances to 8,853 farmers this year.
The recipients of the agricultural public interest allowance are domestic farmers registered in agricultural management entities for more than one year, and farmers from other provinces adjacent to Jeollabuk-do who actually cultivate 1,000 square meters or more of farmland.
They received prepaid anonymous cards worth 300,000 to 600,000 won.
The prepaid cards can be used within the county until September 30 of next year.
The county will accept additional applications from September 13 to 24 for farmers who missed the first allowance application.
County head Choi Young-il said, "We expect the agricultural public interest allowance to provide substantial help in stabilizing the lives of farmers and to have a ripple effect on the local economy," and urged everyone to benefit from the additional application.
