Indian Minister of Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar announced a 23% decrease in unrefined sunflower oil imports to India from February 21 to June 30 this year, with imports dropping to 540,000 tons from 739,000 tons during the same period last year. The total import of unrefined sunflower oil for the 2021-22 financial year was 2,175,000 tons. The government is now focusing on a program to decrease reliance on imported edible oils by enhancing the production and yield of oilseeds in India.
