Vietnam: Supply exceeds demand, and thousands of snakehead fish farmers in Tra Vinh face the risk of loss

Since the beginning of April, the price of snakehead fish has fluctuated from 36,000 to 38,000 VND/kg depending on the type, at times it was only 34,000 to 36,000 VND/kg. Due to the decrease in consumption demand, fewer traders come to the farming areas to buy fish as before, so farmers who have finished harvesting have to bring the fish to the market to sell to warehouses or harvest and sell it at the market every day, incurring additional transportation costs. With the current price, on average, for each kg of commercial snakehead fish, farmers lose from 2,000 to 3,000 VND; only successful farmers can break even or make a profit, but very low.
