The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade in Egypt is implementing contracts to import livestock to increase the availability of meat at reasonable prices for citizens. Major General Ahmed Hassanein, head of the Holding Company for Food Industries, announced plans to receive 5,000 sheep from Tanzania and 5,000 chilled lamb carcasses from Uganda. A $10 million financial credit has also been opened to increase the quantity of livestock from Djibouti to 12,000 head. In addition to these imports, the ministry is preparing for Eid Al-Adha by stocking fresh and chilled meat in consumer complexes.
