Bangladesh's supply trouble pushes up prices

The prices of essential commodities saw sharp increases on the market of Dhaka city on Saturday as the nationwide sudden transport strike interrupted the supply chain.Traders said that very few trucks with essential commodities, including vegetables, fish and rice, came to the city on Saturday as transportation across the country had remained almost suspended for the past two days after an increase in the fuel price on Thursday.They said that the prices of all vegetables and fish increased on the city market on Saturday due to a supply shortage.If the transport strike continues, the prices of all commodities, also including rice and edible oil, would go up further, traders said.
