The government is urging an adjustment in production in the upstream sector of the poultry industry following pressure on livebird prices, which are considered below a healthy level for farmers. Director of Breeding and Livestock Production of the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health Hary Suhada stated that the current production cost structure shows that the margin for farmers is increasingly squeezed. "Based on the calculations, the estimated national HPP is currently in the range of Rp19,500 to Rp21,000 per kilogram of livebird, depending on the scale of the business and the efficiency level of each farmer," he said to Kontan, Thursday (16/4).
