The Sverdlovsk region in Russia has seen a 10% increase in agricultural imports in the first seven months of 2021, reaching a value of USD 113.6 million, with a majority of the imports coming from China, Ecuador, and Georgia. The imports were mainly fruits and live plants, with a notable increase in cut flowers. Sunflower seeds, primarily from China, also saw an increase in import due to a decrease in domestic supply. The region's exports, amounting to USD 57.0 million, were mainly fats and oils, with a notable increase in ready-made sauces for export to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Moldova. The region is planning to increase its agricultural exports to USD 133.7 million by 2025 as part of a regional project launched in 2019.
