The Indonesian government, through the Directorate General of Food Crops, is set to provide assistance for the development of 2,000 hectares of sweet potatoes across several locations in the country. The initiative is aimed at boosting local food commodities with high nutritional value and potential for export, especially to Korea. Farmers are encouraged to leverage People's Business Credit and partnerships for this venture. Karanganyar Regency in Central Java is emerging as a key area for sweet potato cultivation, with the production bringing substantial profits. The regency currently cultivates sweet potatoes across 753 hectares, with a significant share of the produce marketed to local souvenir centers and some varieties being processed for export.
