[Nongsuchuksan Newspaper=Reporter Kim Jeong-hee] The Taean County Agricultural Technology Center (Director Im Mi-young) held a 'formal on-site demonstration meeting for onion machinery' last Sunday at a farm in Donaeri, Taean-eup, with around 40 local onion farmers and related officials in attendance. This demonstration meeting was held to address the labor shortage and aging issues in local agriculture and to seek ways to increase farm income. Onions are a crop with a very low mechanization rate in the processes of sowing, planting, and harvesting, and the introduction of mechanization technology for the entire onion cultivation process is considered a meaningful attempt to secure the sustainability of Taean agriculture. The Taean County Agricultural Technology Center emphasized the importance of labor during the onion cultivation stages.
