(Taean=Yonhap News) Reporter Jeong Yun-deok = Taean-gun in South Chungcheong Province announced on the 3rd that it harvested 7,000 seed garlic cloves of six-clove garlic on Gaeuido, an island known for garlic seeds, and distributed the entire amount to mainland farms.
The seed garlic was supplied to 644 farms and agricultural corporations that hoped for distribution at a price of 19,000 won per clove.
The seed garlic cultivated on Gaeuido has high survival rates and low bacterial degradation due to growing in harsh conditions such as sea winds and fog, with minimal soil bacterial infection.
Gaeuido has been steadily supplying high-quality seed garlic, with 9,150 cloves in 2021, 8,350 cloves in 2022, 12,180 cloves in 2023, and 9,060 cloves last year.
A county official said, "We will continue to promote high-quality seed garlic distribution to lead the premium branding of Taean garlic and increase farm income."
