Taiwan ranked as the second largest importer of Paraguayan beef

Between January and December 2023, Taiwan positioned itself as the second most important destination for domestic beef shipments. In the 12 months of last year, 38,223 tons were shipped for USD 187.4 million, an increase of 2.4% in volume, but a drop of 4% in revenue, considering that in 2022 37,307 tons were shipped for USD 195.1 million. In 2022 Taiwan was ranked as the fourth best destination for Paraguayan meat, however, in 2023 it climbed to second position, a location in which the Russian market was previously located. Apart from Taiwan, the main markets for Paraguayan red protein in 2023 were Chile, Brazil, Russia, Israel, Vietnam, Uruguay, Kuwait, Georgia and Angola, among the 10 most important. Regarding offal, Paraguay exported 3,878 tons to Taiwan for a value of USD 9.7 million, an increase of 3% in volume and a loss of 29% in values, when compared to the shipments of 3,761 tons in 2022.
