Taiwan has been recognized by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) as self-declared free from African swine fever (ASF), making it only the second East Asian country, after Japan, to achieve this status. The country has also been recognized as free from foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and goat pox by the WOAH. The ministry's next goal is to secure recognition as free from classical swine fever (CSF) at the WOAH's annual assembly in May 2025.
