Taiwan's representative at the World Trade Organization (WTO) has called on China to lift its ban on Taiwanese fruits, including wax apples and custard apples, following claims of pest contamination. Lo Chang-fa, the representative, refuted these claims, citing less than 0.3% of shipments as being affected. He argued that the fruits should be allowed to clear customs after fumigation, a practice adopted by many countries. The COA will continue to raise its concerns through either cross-strait communication or WTO mechanisms, and is anticipating a positive response from China.
